About the Project
As the final group assessment for Paul Bardini's Enhanced Design Tools class, we had ideate, strategise, prototype and test a project of our choice. It was compulsory that the project incorporate some of the prototyping techniques and tools highlighted throughout the first seven weeks of the course.

Design Concept
Our team of 5 chose to focus on creating a piece on the global environmental problem of The Great Pacific Garbage Patch as it was something that we were all genuinely interested in. The direction of our project leaned more towards artistic expression rather than academic one. The design intent that directed our project was the the idea of exposing the general public to the real and pressing matter of the growing rubbish patch in the Pacific Ocean by way of them somehow experiencing it (but one on a smaller scale, of course). The full strategy report of the project can be viewed here

Division of Workload
Our team divided tasks based on our individual expertise. All members contributed to the research, data collection and analysis as well as the ideation of concepts. I took on the role of graphic designer, Ai and Sketchup modeller and presentation designer. Our project also involved use of the equipment, namely the laser cutting machine at QCA Design Studios at Griffith's Southbank campus. We also used some of the tech that was introduced during the course, specifically the Micro:bit software which team member Tanya Menadue used to program the LED lights used in the piece. Harish Aravind's expertise in electronics proved incredibly helpful in the construction of the Bristlebots' used in the project (photoresistors and transistors were used). Jennie Franklin's artistic sensibilities and Puneet Sharma's presentation skills also ensured that the project and presentation ran seamlessly.

Final Output
The final output consisted of a written strategy report, a group presentation and an interactive piece that we presented to the entire class. The entire process is documented in my blog
